An individual lesson in a one-to-one setting is one of the most effective ways to learn something new. Most students wish to play with greater ease, work on a more resonant and better projecting tone or simply be able to practice longer without fatigue. To achieve these goals I work primarily on the connection between body, instrument and music.
Exercises that eliminate limiting movement patterns give the students the experience of a new body perception. Later, incorporating the appropriate movement patterns into one’s playing will result in a better sound quality and greater interpretational flexibility.
Below is a list of topics that are mainly being worked on in individual lessons.
String players:
flexible right arm free left arm and fingers free shoulder-neck region
Woodwind players:
extended air capacity broad dynamic spectrum variability of tone colors
Pianists:
full, warm ff more stamina in difficult passages or late romantic works brilliance in sound
All instruments:
high musical intensity >musical phrasing supple and free movement
